Happy New Year....
And I'm very happy to kick 2009 out the door.
2009 Hunt....
Our hunters took some nice mature whitetails during the 2009 season ranging from the mid 140's to the 160's B&C. For the hunting purist who claim that harvesting a mature buck under a corn feeder is not a sporting feat - well, maybe it wasn't really a mature buck. Unless tied to a tree, most old bucks chance a feeder during daylight as their nocturnal and solitary nature prevents them from venturing far from the easy chair. It's only when the wise old man makes a hormonal mistake that the hunter gets an opportunity and a glimpse of who's hiding in the pasture. And when the blunder is made, all the hours of eye strain, special preparation and uncomfortable conditions make nature's happening well worth the wait. This moment and the anticipation is what keeps us dreaming of our next hunt.
New Trophy Room....
The trophy room was completed just in time for deer season so everyone got to enjoy the new addition. The meals served were a big hit along with the HD TV and sizable bar. One of the favorite spots tagged for relaxation and carrying on about the day quickly grew to be the TK14 rock fire pit. It was the perfect place to complete the day.
Wildlife Management....
Since acquiring the ranch in 2004, we have maintained an intensive wildlife management program for the production of superb trophy game through supplemental feeding, enhanced habitat, improved genetics, and age. With an established commitment to enhancing the quality of the game, our trophy whitetails and exotics have steadily improved each year. The folks involved know it's taken many hours of sweat and elbow grease to make it happen.
We are very thankful to complete the year without any major hunting accidents. This is a tribute to the gun safety practiced by our hunters and guides. So, thank you again. As conscientious hunters, gun safety is always our #1 priority as it only takes one misfire to result in tragedy. Let's never take the edge off and always keep the safety on when a gun is in our hands.
We hope to see you at the TK14 ranch this year. Safe hunting and safe travel wherever you decide to make your 2010 tracks. __Tim Terry

2009 TK14 Bow Champ Crowned....
Congrats to Cody Swope who won the coveted 2009 TK14 Bow Tournament this past wknd.
In a thrilling sudden death playoff while starving off intense pressure from an expert field, Cody sweated through his competitors' trash talk, beer slurs and unruly crowd by capturing the trophy on the 2nd hole of a 3-way sudden death playoff. The tournament favorite, Keith Rudasill and, the most improved player from the previous year, Gaddis Wolley, gave him almost more than he could handle. As the 3 finalists stepped up to the dreaded "Iron Buck", Gaddis was the first to shatter his arrow at 23.5 yards narrowly missing the 4 inch target circle while Keith and Cody easily hit their marks. Moving to the 38.5 yard marker, the fans surrounding the crowded tee box grew hangover silent. Keith was the first to release his arrow which unexpectedly splintered on the "Iron Buck" at impact from his 80 lb. draw. Laughing loudly at the miss, Cody quickly notched his arrow. The dramatic finish ended as his final shot of the day pierced its mark dead center causing the crowd to erupt and shower the champion in ice cold beer & salted pretzels.
In an exclusive interview after the round, Cody thanked his fans for their loyal support as he vowed to return next year for an easy repeat victory. When asked what was his key to success, he quickly replied, "It was a piece of cake and over before it started. I always lay back on my competition, remind them frequently of my past heart surgery and never let them see me sweat. Also, a few beers before the round helps negate the shakes caused from the night before."
One final important note... the competition committee looked into an allegation that Cody may have tampered with the bow sight of one of his fellow competitors, Tim Terry. When asked about the incident, Cody just smiled and said "no comment". After agreeing to undisclosed terms and seeing Tim leave with a case of Cain Five, the charges were dismissed and the final standings upheld.
Great news..... Cody has agreed to sign the attached photo at no charge for his bow fans. Others may just want to print it and use it for target practice.
